In the crowded lanes of a nearby slum, dozens of children gather every Sunday morning under a large neem tree. There are no blackboards or benches — just a few mats, a box of crayons, and the sound of laughter. This is our Sunday Learning Circle, a volunteer-led initiative that brings education to children who are out of school or struggling to cope.
Many of these children come from families where school is not a priority due to poverty or lack of awareness. Through our classes, we reintroduce them to learning through stories, songs, drawing, and games. The goal is not to pressure them with curriculum, but to make learning joyful and consistent.
We focus on basic literacy and numeracy, teach good habits like handwashing and sharing, and distribute snacks to encourage regular attendance. Slowly, children who once roamed the streets during school hours are now motivated to go back to formal education.
Parents often join in out of curiosity and soon become supporters of their child’s education journey. The ripple effect is real.
Through these classes, we’re not just teaching ABCs — we’re reigniting curiosity and confidence in kids who were forgotten by the system.
